Anne's Bio

My interest in photography has been a fulfilling pursuit allowing me to preserve my love of flowers.

My favorite subjects are the tiny ground flowers that often remain undiscovered by the casual eye. Armed with macro photographic equipment, the search for these hidden treasures is enjoyed in locations unique to Western North Carolina. The Botanical Gardens at Asheville, The North Carolina Arboretum and the Blue Ridge Parkway provide a picturesque opportunity to observe some of the most beautiful and delicate flowers in my portfolio.

It is not my intention to capture a perfectly crisp photograph. I am more interested in revealing the delicate texture, colors and shapes using soft focus to distort reality giving the photos a more painterly quality. I am in no way claiming to be a botanist, only a lover of flowers and doing my best to identify them.

A special thanks to my sister-in-law, Amanda Thomas who often accompanies me on my journeys into the woods with field guide in tow. Also, to my husband Marcus who encourages and inspires me.
